The village of Roselle is thinking about merging the planning and zoning commission with the zoning board of appeals as a way to make it easier for residents to take care of business on those matters.
At the Jan. 23 meeting of the Roselle village board, the board considered several aspects regarding liquor licenses in the village and code pertaining to liquor licenses.
Despite the address normally being given in a chamber of commerce dinner, Mayor David Pileski gave the annual state of the village address at the Feb. 13 Village of Roselle board meeting.
Village of Roselle Mayor David Pileski has clarified that the community has not received any requests from Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson or Governor Pritzker regarding the city's illegal immigration crisis. Pileski also highlighted a crucial aspect of Roselle's position – as a non-home rule municipality, the village believes it lacks the legal authority to approve ordinances that impose certain restrictions or regulations related to the migrant issue.
In DuPage County, numerous municipalities have declined to respond to a DuPage Policy Journal inquiry concerning their policies on illegal immigration. Municipalities that refrained from disclosing their stance on the issue include Aurora, Batavia, Darien, Elmhurst, Geneva, Naperville, Oakbrook Terrace, St. Charles, Warrenville, West Chicago, Wheaton, Wood Dale, Addison, Bartlett, Bloomingdale, Bolingbrook, Burr Ridge, Carol Stream, Clarendon Hills, Downers Grove and several others.
