Downers Grove contract with NAPA aims to save costs

Downers Grove and Genuine Parts Company/National Auto Parts Association (NAPA) are entering  into a partnership to privatize the management of the village's Fleet Parts and Inventory Program as well as purchase parts from NAPA at discounted prices over the life of the contract. The contract, approved by the village council on Sept. 15, is projected to save $51,438 in parts purchases for each of the next three years.

The Village of Downers Grove has taken steps to prepare for the possible loss of state revenue, as outlined in the village's "Long Range Plan for 2013-2015." Under Gov. Bruce Rauner's proposed 2015-16 budget, the village would see a reduction in Income tax distribution to local governments by 50 percent.
