Community Coalition Will Fight Railroad Merger

A coalition of eight communities along Metra’s Milwaukee District West line, from Elgin to Chicago, is uniting to staunchly oppose the proposed merger of Canadian Pacific Railway (CP) and Kansas City Southern Railroad (KC) pending before the Surface Transportation Board (STB) in Washington, D.C. The “Coalition to Stop CPKC” was announced at a press conference today at the Village of Itasca by community leaders and supporters, including area first responders.
