Portion of Rt. 38 named after U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Robert J. Miller

State Senator Seth Lewis (R-Bartlett) honored U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Robert H. Miller on May 25 with the Senate’s passage of House Joint Resolution 60, which names a section of Illinois Route 38 (Roosevelt Road) in Wheaton in the fallen soldier’s honor. Specifically, the section of Rt. 38 in Wheaton between County Farm Road and Winfield Road will be known as the “U.S. Army SSG Robert J. Miller Memorial Highway.”

180 million allocated to transportation improvements in Illinois' 24th Senate District

The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) has released its updated multi-year transportation improvement plan. State Senator Seth Lewis (R-Bartlett) announced that $180,273,000 in IDOT funds will be allocated to projects in the 24th Senate District. Of this total, $154,159 is designated for state highway improvements within the district, and $26,114,000 is set aside for local highway enhancements. For the current fiscal year alone, $71.110 million is earmarked for various projects.

Illinois names giant puffball as official state mushroom

Students from the Prairie School of DuPage in Wheaton made history on Monday when Governor JB Pritzker signed Senate Bill 3514 into law. The bill designates the Calvatia gigantea, commonly known as the “giant puffball,” as the official mushroom of Illinois.
