From its spotted sandpipers to storm water management, DuPage County’s Salt Creek Marsh will soon experience expanded horizons following the Forest Preserve District board of commissioners’ recent approval of a 24-acre donation from a real estate trust.
In a triple collaboration, several local organizations will join to break ground for the West Branch DuPage River Trail 11 a.m. Sept. 13 at the Winfield Fire Protection District House at 27W530 High Lake Rd.
Horse-driven half-hour hayrides will lead the activities available at Wheaton’s Danada Equestrian Center beginning on Sept. 17 and during its October fall festival, as well as at additional area farm fests slated for this season.
Brian Battle — longtime Wheaton resident, regular forest visitor and business leader — recently accepted a position on the board of directors for DuPage County's Friends of the Forest Preserve District, which is the district’s 501(c)(3) nonprofit support group.
Lawyers Jennifer Martyn of Woodridge and Scott Hardek of Elmhurst have joined the board of directors of the Friends of the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County, the district reported recently.

The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County has announced that tickets for an exclusive in-person native plant presale will go on sale on April 11. The district, which has been fostering connections between people and nature for over a century, attracts more than 6.2 million visitors annually to its 60 forest preserves, 166 miles of trails, six education centers, and numerous programs.
