Juvenile charged with arson at Villa Park recreation facility

DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin and Villa Park Chief Michael Rivas announced today that a Villa Park juvenile has been accused of breaking into Jefferson Pool, a recreation facility located at 341 North Harvard Avenue, and setting fire to a desk in the office portion of the facility. The juvenile, a fifteen-year-old male, appeared at a detention hearing this morning where Judge Demetrios Panoushis ordered his detention until at least his next court appearance. Berkeley man detained after being charged with providing fatal dose

DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin and Darien Chief of Police Greg Thomas announced today that Judge Leah Bendik has granted the State’s motion to deny pre-trial release for a Berkeley man charged with supplying a fatal dose of illegal narcotics to Michael Rice of Darien. Willie Woodgett, 37, of the 1400 block of Morris Avenue, appeared in First Appearance Court this morning charged with one count of Drug Induced Homicide, a Class X Felony. On July 24, 2024, DuPage County Judge Bendik issued an arrest warrant for Woodgett. He was taken into custody on July 30, 2024.

Three Chicago juveniles detained over attempted carjacking in Downers Grove

DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin and Downers Grove Chief of Police Michael DeVries announced today that three male Cook County juveniles, two fourteen-year-olds and one fifteen-year-old, accused of Attempt Vehicular Hijacking (Class 2 Felony) will be detained until at least their next court appearance. Chicago man sentenced to 31 years for armed Darien home invasion

DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin announced that late yesterday afternoon Judge Joseph Bugos sentenced Joseph Covington, 28, formerly of Chicago, to thirty-one years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. This follows Covington's guilty plea to one count of Home Invasion (Class X Felony) on April 3, 2024. At his appearance in Bond Court, Judge Brian Telander ordered he be held without bond. He has remained in custody at the DuPage County Jail.

A Louisiana man, Aiden Coburn-Dishler, has been denied pre-trial release after being accused of leading police on a high-speed chase in a stolen vehicle while illegally possessing a loaded handgun.
