Naperville man denied pre-trial release in animal cruelty case

DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin and Naperville Chief of Police Jason Arres have confirmed that Judge Joshua Dieden has denied pre-trial release for Nathan Gonzalez, a Naperville resident. Gonzalez is accused of killing the family dog and threatening his stepdaughters. Chicago man sentenced to 12 years for drug induced homicide

DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin announced the sentencing of Shawn Smith, a Chicago resident, to twelve years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. Smith, 33, pleaded guilty to one count of Drug Induced Homicide, a Class X Felony. The sentence was delivered by Judge Daniel Guerin.

Kevin James sentenced to 20 years for mother's murder

A former resident of Downers Grove, Kevin James, has been sentenced to twenty years in the Illinois Department of Corrections after pleading guilty but mentally ill to the murder of his mother. The announcement was made by DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin. James, 30, appeared in court where he entered his plea before Judge Ann Celine O’Hallaren Walsh, who accepted the agreed sentence.
