North Park University’s DJ Johnson has been named to the D3football.com National Team of the Week, following his recent recognition as College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Co-Defensive Player of the Week. Johnson is the only player from the CCIW to receive this national honor in the latest selection.
During North Park’s 14-10 victory over Carthage last Saturday, Johnson returned an interception 58 yards for a touchdown early in the second quarter, giving North Park a 7-3 lead against Carthage. Following this play, North Park’s defense limited Carthage to just one more touchdown and held them to their second-lowest point total allowed this season.
Johnson finished the game with five tackles, two pass breakups, and a quarterback hurry. He currently leads North Park with 57 tackles, including 37 solo stops.
This marks the fifth time this season that a member of the Vikings has earned a spot on D3football.com’s National Team of the Week.
