North Central College junior Joey Sikorsky has been recognized as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Wrestling Student-Athlete of the Week. Sikorsky earned this honor after his performance at the Al Hanke Invitational, where he competed in the 125-pound weight class.
Sikorsky was North Central’s only individual champion at the tournament and contributed to a seventh-place team finish among 16 teams. He secured bonus points in each of his four matches, advancing to the championship round with a technical fall, two major decisions, and a fall.
His path through the invitational included an opening 17-2 technical fall win over Elmhurst’s Juan Villa. In the quarterfinals, Sikorsky achieved a 20-7 major decision against Trine’s Kaden Golder. He then defeated Harper’s Esteban Delgado by fall at 4:43 in the semifinal and won the final match with an 11-3 major decision over Carthage’s Chris Kish.
Sikorsky accumulated a total of 25.5 team points during the tournament and was one of eight North Central wrestlers to place within the top four in their respective weight classes.
