North Central College junior Ethan Spacht has been recognized as the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Wrestling Student-Athlete of the Week. The honor follows his performance at the New Standard Corporation Invitational, where he won the 133-pound championship.
Spacht, who is from Bradley, Illinois, competed in York, Pennsylvania at an event hosted by York. He secured victories over two opponents ranked in the top five nationally. His results contributed to North Central’s team title at the invitational. This marks Spacht’s second time earning CCIW Student-Athlete of the Week honors this season.
During the tournament, Spacht began with consecutive pinfall wins against Kruz McCusker from Misericordia and Ryan O’Rourke from Johnson & Wales. In the quarterfinals, he achieved a technical fall with a 17-0 score over Luek Reitter from TCNJ.
In his semifinal match, Spacht defeated Peyton Ellis of Johnson & Wales—who is ranked fourth nationally—by a 14-4 major decision. He finished by winning a close 4-3 decision over third-ranked Garrett Totten from TCNJ in the finals. This victory allowed him to avenge an earlier loss to Totten and secure the 133-pound title.
