Max O’Malley named director of tennis for Elmhurst University’s men’s and women’s programs

Elmhurst University has appointed Max O’Malley as the new Director of Tennis, according to an announcement from Director of Athletics Dr. Glen Brittich. O’Malley will oversee both the men’s and women’s tennis programs at the university.

“Max’s energy, adaptability, and commitment to student-athlete development make him a tremendous addition to Elmhurst Athletics,” said Dr. Brittich. “His coaching experience and leadership skills will be instrumental in developing our tennis programs.”

O’Malley is a 2024 graduate of the University of Arizona with a degree in economics. He previously served as an assistant coach for Arizona’s Wheelchair Tennis Team, where he was involved in designing drills, analyzing match performance, and managing team practices. During his time with the program, he contributed to its growth and competitive success at the NCAA level.

“I’m happy to be the new Director of tennis at Elmhurst University and I look forward to a winning season!” said O’Malley.

In addition to his collegiate coaching background, O’Malley has held roles in sales, tourism, and entrepreneurship. His experience as a tour leader in Europe and work in client-focused positions have developed his communication and organizational abilities. He also coached youth players at the Hinsdale Racquet Club, focusing on skill development and fostering enthusiasm for tennis.

As Director of Tennis at Elmhurst University, O’Malley will be responsible for all aspects of both tennis programs, including practice planning, player development, recruiting efforts, and promoting a culture of excellence within the teams.
