Illinois Wesleyan University and Carroll University are featured in the latest Division III women’s basketball national rankings, representing the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW).
In the D3hoops.com Top 25 poll released Monday, Illinois Wesleyan is ranked No. 17, while Carroll holds the No. 21 spot. Both teams also appear in this week’s Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) poll: Illinois Wesleyan is listed at No. 20 and Carroll at No. 24.
The updated rankings come after a recent conference game where Illinois Wesleyan defeated Carroll 85-52 at the Shirk Center. With this win, IWU head coach Mia Smith achieved her 296th career CCIW victory, breaking the previous record held by Millikin’s Lori Kerans.
Illinois Wesleyan has started conference play with a 4-0 record and has faced a demanding schedule this season, including a narrow win over then-No. 19 Bethel on December 28.
Carroll currently stands at an overall record of 8-4 and is 2-1 in CCIW competition. The team will next play Elmhurst on Wednesday.
