FOIA Request to Village of Addison regarding expense reimbursement records on February 1, 2026.

The DuPage Policy Journal has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Village of Addison seeking detailed records of expense reimbursements for the immediately preceding calendar month. The request was sent on February 1, 2026, and aims to obtain these records in an electronic format under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140.

The specific details requested include the name and title of individuals who received reimbursements, dates and amounts of these reimbursements, descriptions of the expenses reimbursed, and the associated department or office. This request is made with the intent to gather information that holds public interest and will be disseminated to the public through coverage.

The DuPage Policy Journal emphasizes that this request does not necessitate the creation of new documents but seeks access to existing records. Should any part of this request be denied or withheld, they have asked for a specific statutory basis for such denial along with all reasonably segregable portions of the records.

As a media organization dedicated to providing transparency and holding public institutions accountable, DuPage Policy Journal has also requested a fee waiver due to their role in disseminating information. They are affiliated with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, which supports media companies in investigating governmental agencies through FOIA requests.

We look forward to receiving this information in an electronic format as it will greatly aid in our reporting efforts. As always, we remain open for any questions or clarifications regarding this request.
