FOIA Request to Village of Addison regarding employee overtime records on February 1, 2026.

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was submitted to the Village of Addison by a representative from the DuPage Policy Journal. The request, dated February 1, 2026, seeks access to employee overtime records for the immediately preceding calendar month. This request is made under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140.

The requested records include specific details such as the name and job title of each employee, their department or office, dates and number of overtime hours worked, and the compensation paid for this overtime. The aim is to gather information that serves public interest and ensures transparency in local governmental affairs.

The DuPage Policy Journal emphasizes that this request does not require the creation of new documents but pertains only to existing records. In case any part of the request is denied or withheld, they ask for a clear explanation citing the statutory basis for such denial and expect all reasonably segregable portions of the records to be released.

As a media organization dedicated to reporting and holding public institutions accountable, DuPage Policy Journal has requested a fee waiver based on their role in disseminating information to the public. They are affiliated with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, which aids media entities in investigating governmental actions through FOIA requests.

We look forward to receiving this information in an electronic format as it will greatly aid in our reporting efforts. As always, we remain open for any questions or clarifications regarding this request.
