FOIA Request to Village of Addison Police Department regarding active employee roster on November 13, 2025.

The DuPage Policy Journal has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Village of Addison Police Department seeking access to records related to the department’s current employees. The request, sent on November 13, 2025, aims to obtain any available rosters, directories, staffing lists, payroll records, or personnel summaries that identify all current employees within the police department.

Specifically, the request seeks information on each employee’s name, job title or rank, sex or gender (if included in existing records), date of hire or appointment, and age or year of birth (only if this information is part of existing public-facing records). The request also asks for the most recent versions of multiple types of rosters if they exist—such as HR rosters, payroll rosters, sworn-officer rosters, and civilian-staff rosters.

As members of the media committed to transparency and accountability in local governmental affairs, we emphasize that access to these public records is crucial for fulfilling our professional responsibilities. In line with our role in disseminating information to the public and holding institutions accountable, we have requested a fee waiver typically granted to media professionals under such circumstances.

The requestor is affiliated with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy—a organization dedicated to assisting media companies and advocacy groups in investigating actions through FOIA and Sunshine Laws. More details about this organization can be found on their website: https://stopsecrecy.org/about/.

We look forward to receiving this information in an electronic format as it will greatly aid in our reporting efforts. As always, we remain open for any questions or clarifications regarding this request.
