FOIA Request to City of West Chicago Regarding Newly Registered Businesses on May 7, 2025.
As part of our ongoing commitment to transparency and accountability in local governmental affairs, we at the DuPage Policy Journal have submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the City of West Chicago. Our request seeks access to records detailing newly registered businesses within the city from the previous week. Specifically, we are interested in obtaining a list that includes the following fields: Business Name, Business Number, Business Type, Business Address, Issued Date, Status, and Registered Agent Name.
Our role as a media organization is crucial in gathering and disseminating news to the public. Access to such public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities, which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to our readers. We have requested these records in electronic format and have also sought a fee waiver given our status as members of the media.
