The Hinsdale Community Consolidated School District 181 Buildings & Grounds Department hosted an appreciation lunch on April 1 to honor the district's custodial staff and recognize two retiring team members.

Custodians play a key role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students and staff. The event highlighted their contributions to daily school operations across the district.

Director of Building and Grounds Mike Duggan said the custodial team "work tirelessly behind the scenes" to ensure that "our students and staff have a clean, safe, and welcoming environment to call home." Duggan also said their hard work is seen whether they are "prepping for a major event, keeping our hallways pristine, or handling the unexpected with a smile."

Two long-serving members were recognized at the event: Rosa Fulgencio, custodian at Clarendon Hills Middle School (CHMS), is retiring after 21 years of service; Gabriel Angel, custodian at Prospect School, is retiring after 29 years. Both will be missed by colleagues and school communities.
