Cost of college went up for all students at Wheaton College

Tuition and fees rose 3.5 percent for 2018-19 at Wheaton College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Illinois students paid $36,420 to attend the four-year private not-for-profit institution this year – $1,230 more than the $35,190 charged for 2017-18.

Data shows 84 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 473 students received grants or scholarships totaling $9.2 million and 319 students took out student loans totaling more than $2.4 million.

Including all undergraduates (2,944), 1,844 students used grants or scholarships totaling $31.1 million, and 1,189 students took out $8.3 million in federal student loans.
