CITY OF ELMHURST: Support Our Troops This Memorial Day Weekend!

City of Elmhurst issued the following announcement on May 23.

A Bryan middle schooler has organized a campaign this Memorial Day with the goal of giving back to our troops. Inspired by the 2018 Elmhurst Memorial Day Parade, Audrey has created an initiative to help troops get the supplies they need. In doing so, she has partnered with the Illinois USO to make this initiative a community effort.

The supplies that are needed are as follows:

Toiletries

  • Razors
  • Lip balm
  • Travel-sized baby wipes
  • Toilet paper

Drinks

  • Water enhancers (drops/powder)
  • Bags of ground coffee

Treats

  • Gum
  • Candy

Healthy Snacks

  • Ramen noodles
  • Beef jerky
  • Healthy snack bars
  • Individual peanut butter packs

These items can be collected through May 27th, 2019 at the following local businesses: Jewel-Osco (Schiller), City Centre UPS store, Kie and Kate, Mathnasium, The Beauty Lounge, Haute Hairstyle, and E Lounge. These items can also be collected during the Elmhurst Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 27th, 2019 at the Jewel-Osco on Schiller St.
