Carroll’s Natalie Gricius earns CCIW women’s basketball weekly honor after standout performances

Natalie Gricius, a senior at Carroll University, has been named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women’s Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week. Gricius helped lead the No. 24 ranked Pioneers to victories over Chicago and Ripon in recent games.

In two games last week, Gricius scored a total of 61 points and collected 15 rebounds along with three steals. She averaged 30.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game, making 23 out of 29 field goal attempts and hitting four out of seven shots from three-point range.

Against Chicago on Tuesday, Gricius scored 22 points in just 23 minutes as Carroll won 73-52. She made eight out of eleven shots from the field and contributed five rebounds and two steals. On Sunday, she set a new career high by scoring 39 points in an 86-74 win over Ripon, shooting fifteen for eighteen from the floor and making both her three-point attempts while grabbing ten rebounds for her second double-double this season.

The CCIW also listed previous recipients of its weekly women’s basketball honor for the current season: Kristin Bukata from Elmhurst was recognized on November 24, Anna Kleszynski from Elmhurst on November 17, and Grace Cord from Carthage on November 11.
