Carroll University senior Natalie Gricius has been named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women’s Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week after recording consecutive double-doubles in recent games. The announcement was made Monday following Carroll’s victories over Elmhurst and Millikin.
Gricius averaged 26 points and 10.5 rebounds per game as Carroll, ranked 21st nationally, improved its conference record to 4-1. She also averaged two assists per game during this period.
In Wednesday’s matchup against Elmhurst, Gricius scored 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in an 88-83 win. On Saturday, she led all scorers with 33 points and collected 11 rebounds in an 82-64 victory over Millikin. During that game, she made 11 out of 15 shots from the field and converted nine of ten free throws.
The CCIW also released a list of weekly honorees for the current women’s basketball season. Gricius previously received the award on December 1. Other recipients include Sawyer White from Illinois Wesleyan, Kristin Bukata from Elmhurst, Biz Daly from North Central, Nikkel Johnson from Millikin, Anna Kleszynski from Elmhurst, and Grace Cord from Carthage.
