Hanover Park welcomed additions to its police department.

“We believe in training, we believe in professional skills,” Hanover Park Mayor Rodney Craig said during the meeting. “We believe in taking care of one another. I expect every one of our officers to go home to their families at the end of the shift. It's a tough job. This board supports the training, education and skills. And so I'm really pleased when we swear in. And Sabina, you know, you've been around a while. I'm very proud of that. And the other officers standing in the back need to be reminded that we care for them. We expect a safe community, a family-oriented community, and we're providing for that today.”

The board uploaded a Livestream of its public meeting to the city’s YouTube channel.

The village of Hanover celebrated some changes within its police department. Officer Sabina Hosea of the Hanover police department was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. Her husband and daughter joined her at the meeting, along with her mother. Sabina has been with the department for almost 15 years, starting as a desk officer before being promoted throughout the ranks until she reached detective in 2019. She is also a recipient of the life-saving award and has been recognized for her actions in saving five people from a burning building and preventing a suicide attempt.

The board also noted the village has $29 thousand in community contributions in its budget.

Officer Alysse Lamz was sworn into the police department after joining in September of 2022. She previously worked with Will County Court Services as an adult probationary officer, joining her mother and grandmother. Officer Michal Ogara was also sworn into the department. He joined the department in August of 2022 and will graduate from the academy in December of 2022. He previously worked as a security officer at O’Hare International Airport. He was joined by his parents, wife, and two young children.

The board will meet again at 7 p.m. on Dec. 15 at the Municipal Building in room 214 on 2121 West Lake Street.

Nirali Patel started as a clerk in the police department in the summer of 2021 and was hired as a police officer in the summer of 2022. She will also graduate from the academy in December of 2022. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. She was joined by members of her family.
