Village of Bloomingdale Residential Enews - February 17, 2022

Veterans

We hope you find the information in this week's Village Enews useful and informative.

Residential Enews-February 17, 2022

The National Weather Service has announced that a Winter Advisory Warning will remain in effect until 9 PM this evening for the Bloomingdale area. Please be careful of the wind driven snow expected through early evening with a total snow accumulations of 2 to 5 inches with wind gusts of 35 to 40 mph.

Motorists should plan on slippery road conditions and areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. It will remain very windy, so be prepared for some drifting and difficult driving conditions.  Temperatures are forecasted to be around 9 degrees with the wind chill values as low as zero. The blustery conditions will be present until midnight when wind gusts are expected to drop 5 to 10 mph with new snow accumulation of less than one inch.

Please use caution when driving and be sure to check on elderly neighbors. Public Works crews are out clearing and salting roadways but motorists are asked to slow down and use caution.

Please contact the Village using the following link: http://www.villageofbloomingdale.org/.../ReportRequestQue... or contacting the non-emergency Police number at 630-529-9868 with any concerns.

Be Friend to a Fire Hydrant During Winter

In an emergency, every second counts. The Bloomingdale Fire Protection District would like to remind you that you can help firefighters help you.

Fire hydrants that are blocked, concealed, or difficult to access due to snow or ice and impede emergency fire response. Since fire trucks carry a limited amount of water, one of the first tasks upon arriving at a fire is to locate a water supply from the nearest hydrant.

"Adopt" a hydrant and make it part of your shoveling and snow clearing routine. It will only take a few extra minutes and is a quick and easy way to help us to help you and your neighbors. Keeping them clear can mean easier access to water and more time doing what really matters - fighting the fire.
