State Rep. Amy Grant (R-Wheaton)  is collecting items for welcome baskets to Jubilee Village, a support program providing transitional housing and other services to homeless, single mothers in DuPage County.

"Our holiday drive is on now through December 17!" Grant announced in a Dec. 6 post on Facebook. "Bring donations to my office during business hours to help the women of Jubilee Village, a facility in DuPage county that provides assistance to young mothers and their children. Through the program, these women have access to employment skills training, further schooling, financial skill-building, and social-emotional learning."

Grant directed those interested in donating to her website to see a list of needed items, primarily household cleaning items. Donations can be dropped off at Grant’s district office in Wheaton, 416 E. Roosevelt Road, Suite 111, through Friday, Dec. 17, the website states.

Jubilee Village, a 17-unit apartment building in Carol Stream, is a transitional housing unit for single, formerly homeless mothers between the ages of 18 and 24 and their children, according to Outreach Community Ministries. The program provides "wrap-around services, including safe and secure housing, counseling, case management, financial planning, parenting classes, job skills and mentoring from experienced live-in couples on each floor," the OCM website states.
