DuPage Policy Journal issued the following announcement on Aug. 27

5th grade Band and 4th grade Orchestra beginners are starting their instrumental music experience this week and next week!

Band and Orchestra directors have shared with me how excited they are to welcome new students at school this year! If you have a 4th or 5th grader and want to learn more, email savinoc@ccsd93.com for Band or scopeld@ccsd93.com for Orchestra to join.

CCSD93 to Comply With Updated Staff COVID-19 Guidelines

You have likely heard that Illinois Governor, J. B. Pritzker held a COVID-19 press conference yesterday where he issued new rules regarding indoor masking, educational employee vaccination and testing requirements.

The statewide indoor masking order begins Monday, August 30, and is consistent with the practice CCSD93 already has in place at its buildings for students, staff and visitors. We do not anticipate changes to our current masking practice and will communicate if any arise.

Governor Pritzker has also enacted the requirement that all educational employees must have a COVID-19 vaccination or submit to testing weekly (or more frequently if ordered by the local health department) by September 5. CCSD93 will work with staff members to ensure we are in compliance with this executive order.

CCSD93 Bus Notes

Thank You for Your Patience as We Continue to Work Through Bus Issues

As I shared with you last week, there is a national labor shortage of bus drivers. Many of our families who receive busing through First Student, our transportation provider, have been negatively impacted by extremely late routes. On behalf of CCSD93, I apologize for the frustrations this has caused.

First Student has taken the following steps to improve this situation:
  • Increased recruiting efforts.
  • Systematized their commercial driver's license process and school bus training.
  • Worked with CCSD93 to reconfigure routes and minimize disruption due to driver shortage.

If you or anyone you know would be interested in driving a bus for CCSD93 students, please review the following:
  • Starting pay is $21.00 per hour.
  • You may be eligible to receive a sign-on bonus of $2,500-$3,000.
  • First Student provides all necessary training and certification.
  • Drivers would be guaranteed to only drive CCSD93 routes if desired, or they may choose to work additional hours for other districts.
  • Interested individuals are invited to apply here.
  • If you have additional questions you can contact First Student directly at 331-256-7526.

Thank you for your continued patience as we work through these difficult circumstances.

FirstView Bus Tracking App On Hold

With the shortage in drivers, we have found the timing information in FirstView, CCSD93’s bus tracking app, to be unreliable to this point. For this reason, we will not share FirstView login information with parents until we observe more reliably correct timing information. CCSD93 will reach out with a FirstView update when we have one.

Please review the following articles for even more from CCSD93, and enjoy your weekend!

Virtual Curriculum Nights 9/7-9/9

After greater parent attendance and positive feedback from last year’s virtual Curriculum Nights, we will be bringing them back this school year the week after Labor Day. By attending Curriculum Night virtually, parents will become better acquainted with their child's education and school this school year through video presentations from their child's principal and teachers.

The evening will begin with families collectively joining their school's principal for a singular YouTube Premiere Curriculum Night event where they will receive a general overview on the school year, including the school's goals and additional important notes. From there, parents will be linked to a website where they will find videos from their child's teachers. Teachers will cover how they are working to build relationships, how students are being supported academically, information about assessment and grading, and more.

Mark your calendar for the dates and times in the image above. Parents will be sent email, text, and app push reminders with their child's YouTube Premiere Curriculum Night link the day before and the evening of the event. If you cannot join live, the videos will be archived to each school's website for later viewing.

Glenbard North Football Game Attendance Update

As we continue to work to keep our community safe and students in school, Glenbard North High School has reached out to CCSD93 to ask us to share the following update with our families regarding Glenbard North football games.

In order to maintain a safe environment for all during the pandemic, the following guidelines will be enforced for all attendees of Glenbard North football games.
  • All elementary and/or middle school students must be accompanied by their parent/guardian in order to enter the event. Unaccompanied students will not be allowed to enter, and one parent will not be allowed to bring in a group of students.
  • Students must be accompanied by their parent/guardian at all times.
  • Students are not to gather in large groups that block high traffic areas near concessions, restrooms, entrances, or stairways.
  • Physical horseplay will not be allowed at any time.
  • Students not following these guidelines will be asked to sit with their adult supervisor or may be required to leave.
