Villa Park ranked 131th in state in lottery ticket sales for May 2016

The Village of Villa Park had the 131th highest lottery ticket net sales statewide per capita for the month of May 2016 -- up 14 spots from its April ranking.

The per capita lottery ticket sales in Villa Park was $33.67 per person.

Based on monthly sales records obtained by the Dupage Policy Journal, Villa Park generated $739,778.50 in net sales from its 27 lottery retailers in May 2016, compared to $785,214.50 in May 2015.

The Village of Villa Park is in DuPage County, and has a population of 21,969, according to 2010 census data. Neighboring municipalities are Oakbrook Terrace, Addison, Lombard, Elmhurst and Oak Brook.

Average sales for municipalities in the region in May 2016 was $29,520.28.

The top five cities in the state generated $5,496,719 in net sales -- 1 percent of the state's 2015 net sales amounting to $2,793,271,709.50.
