Aurora Civil Service Commission recommends police cadet to the next selection process step

Aurora Civil Service Commission met Thursday, Feb. 2.

To provide the citizens of Aurora with the most qualified applicants for, and promotion to, firefighter and police officer positions, irrespective of the applicant’s race, creed, color, gender, age, national origin, or religious or political opinions or affiliations. To inspire public confidence in the Civil Service System and to afford uniformed members an opportunity for employment and promotion within uniformed positions of the Fire and Police Departments.

CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING

Members present: Chairman Ramona Wood

Commissioner Leticia Morales-Perez

Commissioner Tim Oelker

Commissioner Carmen Armstrong

Chairman Wood opened the meeting at 4:01 p.m.

Commissioner Oelker motioned for the Commission to go into executive session at 4:02 pm. to review Fire candidate polygraphs and psychological. Commissioner Morales-Perez seconded. Motion passed.

Commissioner Oelker motioned for the Commission to come out of executive session at 4:37 pm. Commissioner Morales-Perez seconded. Motion passed.

Commissioner Oelker motioned to approve the civil service exam for the Water & Sewer Dept, Maintenance Worker II position. Commissioner Armstrong seconded. Motion passed.

Commissioner Oelker motioned to approve the civil service exam for the Water & Sewer Dept, Maintenance Worker III position. Commissioner Morales Perez seconded. Motion passed.

Commissioner Oelker motioned to approve January 19, 2017 meeting minutes. Chairman Wood seconded. Motion passed.

Commissioner Morales-Perez motioned to approve January 27, 2017 special meeting minutes. Commissioner Oelker seconded. Motion passed.

Commissioner Morales-Perez motioned to pass 2016 Fire Private Eligibility list candidates Albert Collins, Vincent Romandine, Nicholas Cadena, Brett McKillip, Tyler Riemenschneider, Stephen Coomes, Mark Mammoser to the next step in the selection process due to the results of the polygraph examination. Commissioner Oelker seconded. Motion passed.

Commissioner Armstrong motioned to pass 2016 Fire Private Eligibility list candidates Nicholas DeLaurentis, Kevin McElmeel, Jason Rothenberg to the next step in the selection process due to the results of the psychological evaluation. Commissioner Oelker seconded. Motion passed.

Commissioner Armstrong motioned to pass police cadet Matthew Hill to the next step in the selection process due to the results of the psychological evaluation. Commissioner Oelker seconded. Motion passed.

Commissioner Morales- Perez motioned to strike 2016 Fire Private Eligibility list candidate Nathan Debs from the eligibility list due to the results of the polygraph examination. Commissioner Oekler seconded. Motion passed.

Miscellaneous Items were reviewed

Commissioner Oelker motioned, seconded by Commissioner Armstrong to adjourn the meeting at 4:54 p.m. Motion passed.
