77.7 percent of Waubonsie Valley High School's 2015 graduating class enrolled in college

Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) records show that 77.7 percent of Waubonsie Valley High School's (WVHS) 2015 graduating class enrolled in college within 12 months of graduation.

The 2015 state average for students in public schools was 70 percent.

For WVHS, its college enrollment rate marks an improvement over 2014, when 73.7 percent of its graduates chose post-secondary education.

The data, collected by the National Student Clearinghouse, includes two- and four-year colleges.

Enrollment at WVHS in 2015 was 2,596; 614 (23.65 percent) were seniors.

Also according to ISBE, 66.3 percent of WVHS seniors were "college ready" in 2015, versus an average of 46 percent statewide.

All students who score a 21 on the ACT qualify as "college ready."

Among high schools in DuPage, the class of 2015 college readiness rates at Hinsdale Central High School (87.1 percent), Neuqua Valley High School (85.9 percent), Naperville Central High School (77.4 percent), and Wheaton North High School (71.3 percent) were all higher than at WVHS. Glenbard West High School (65.6 percent), Addison Trail High School (33.3 percent), Willowbrook High School (49.8 percent), Woodstock High School (54 percent) and Westmont High School (56 percent) were all lower.

WVHS students did better on math (58.8 percent) and English (79.1 percent) and worse on science (53.8 percent) and reading (57.6 percent).

Only 43.8 percent of WVHS students were college ready in all four subjects, according to ISBE.
