A. Eugene Rennels Bridge to undergo major repairs

The City of West Chicago has started to make major repairs to the A. Eugene Rennels Bridge, formerly known as the Wilson Avenue Bridge.

Traffic will be detoured over the Union Pacific Railroad Tracks at Wood and Washington streets. The bridge and Wilson Avenue between Spencer Street and Main Street, as well as its adjacent sidewalks, will be closed.

The project involves several bridge deck joint replacements, bridge deck scarification and latex concrete overlay; cleaning and painting of bridge seats, beam ends and bearings; milling and resurfacing asphalt bridge approaches; replacement of sidewalks and curbs' storm sewer inlet repairs; replacement of bridge fence railing, installation of ornamental railing along bridge approaches; and other related work.

The project will continue through July and August.
