Seniors can register for Smart911 service at West Chicago 2016 Senior Fair

Ambulance

Seniors attending the 2016 Senior Fair on April 28 in West Chicago, Illinois will have the opportunity to sign up for DuPage County’s Emergency Telephone System Board (ETSB) Smart911 safety service, which would improve emergency medical response.

Smart911 allows seniors and anyone with a physical or cognitive disability to create a detailed profile with their medical information and family details, which allows first responders to better handle medical emergencies when a 911 call is placed. When signing up for Smart911, a process that typically takes approximately 15 minutes, users can input details about their specific medical needs and conditions, as well as the names and contact information for caregivers and emergency contacts. The service is useful for anyone living, working or spending time in DuPage County, and profiles are free to create and confidential.

A DuPage County ETSB official will be at the West Chicago’s 2016 Senior Fair, which is taking place from 10 a.m. to noon at the West Chicago American Leion Post 300, 123 Main St., West Chicago.

Those interested in signing up will be required to provide an email address, though they can use a family member or friend’s address if they do not have one. The signup form is also available online for those who want to complete it at home and submit it at the fair.
