West Chicago FOP Lodge 85 works to raise $5,000 for Special Olympics at Polar Plunge

Polar

The 2016 Polar Plunge, the annual event to kick off the Law Enforcement Torch Run fundraiser, will take place on Sunday.

The event will feature dozens of brave volunteers jumping into the ice cold waters of lakes at 21 locations across the state in order to benefit the Illinois Special Olympics.

The local team, West Chicago FOP Lodge 85, is captained by Det. Robbi Peterson and will take the plunge at Yorkville’s Loon Lake.

Team members are still collecting donations for their pledge to take the plunge. Chief Mike Uplegger has challenged residents to donate $5,000 to the team and has pledged to jump in with the rest of the squad should they meet that fundraising goal.

Anyone wishing to make a donation on behalf of the West Chicago FOP Lodge 85 can visit soill.donordrive.com or mail a donation to the West Chicago Police Department, c/o Special Olympics IL, 325 Spencer St., West Chicago, IL 60185.
