Since the end of October, transit riders in the Aurora area have started using an all-new service model that they actually helped design.

After extensive research and several feedback forums involving frequent riders, suburban Chicago mass-transit provider Pace made several service upgrades to match customers' wish lists, which include bus routes that operate more frequently, later at night and that serve newly developed retail destinations in metropolitan area.

The changes are predicated on maximizing service to destinations with the highest demand for transit service.

Some of the new transit destinations include the Walmart Supercenter near Kirk and Butterfield Roads and the Woodman’s on Orchard Road. Also, two new routes were added: Route 540 Farnsworth Road and the Southeast Aurora Call-n-Ride, which provides reservation-based service to the general public anywhere within a defined geographic area.

Five other existing routes have been adjusted both in their timing and stop locations, and two others were adjusted by timing only. Three routes have been eliminated entirely. However, popular segments and destinations along those routes will continue to be served, either by the new routes or via modifications to current routes.
