Hultgren co-sponsors Medicare Common Access Card Act of 2015
U.S. Rep. Randy Hultgren (R-Dist. 14) said on Thursday that he is co-sponsoring the Medicare Common Access Card Act of 2015.
H.R. 3220 would require Medicare to use smart-card technology that would reduce fraud, as well as reform the way Medicare reimbursements work, mandating electronic confirmation of payments to reduce the abuse of and costs to the Medicare program.
“Advancing technology in health care is critically important to improving quality, expanding access, preventing fraud and abuse, and reducing costs across the Medicare program and the larger U.S. health care system," Hultgren said. "Health IT is a bipartisan issue, and this bill is a perfect opportunity to work together to allow this country’s seniors to access services more easily and protect Medicare beneficiaries from identity theft. Secure technology is available to us – offering it to seniors at a reduced cost to a ballooning Medicare program is a no-brainer."
Born and raised in Illinois, and having spent more than 15 years serving Illinois and its citizens at multiple levels of government, Hultgren represents seven suburban counties: McHenry, Lake, Kendall, Kane, DuPage, DeKalb and Will.
