City of Warrenville staff received a notice from the Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC) on Monday regarding the undertaking of a formal investigation into the alleged deceptive marketing practices of retail energy provider Sperian Energy.
Sperian is an Alternative Retail Energy Suppliers (ARES) that bid on the city’s municipal aggregation program.
ARES are allowed to solicit residents and small businesses for individual electric supply programs, and the city does occasionally receive questions and complaints about the companies.
Residents with complaints about Sperian Energy should contact the ICC at www.icc.illinois.gov or 1-800-524-0795.
