Lombard's Metra underpass project now complete.
Work on the Metra underpass project in the Village of Lombard has been completed as of Aug. 1.
Parkside between Park and Main will be restored to two-way traffic, and McGuire Drive between Main St. and Elizabeth St. has been reopened to traffic.
Also, one-way traffic on Park Ave. between St. Charles and McGuire Drive will remain in effect as the village puts into effect a traffic study to determine whether to keep one-way traffic permanent or to reinstate two-way traffic standard to the street prior to construction. The study will be conducted over the next month.
Work by Union Pacific Railroad personnel to reconstruct the west platform will continue through Sept. 1. After the platform is completed, new guard and hand rails will be installed along the west end of the platform.
A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held after all work is complete.
