Temporary road closures in Oak Brook due to protest

A number of roads in Oak Brook, Illinois were closed today due to a public demonstration being held in support of an effort to increase the minimum wage of fast-food employees to $15 per hour.

The road closures included: westbound 22nd Street at York Road from noon to 12:20 p.m.; westbound 22nd Street at Enterprise Drive from 12:20 to 12:40 p.m.; McDonald’s Drive between 22nd Street and Commerce Drive from noon to 2:30 p.m.; and westbound 22nd Street to Spring Road and Northbound Spring Road to Commerce Drive from 2:30 to 3 p.m.

The demonstration, which was expected to be over by 3 p.m., was not sponsored by the Oak Brook Police Department or the McDonald's Corp., which is based in Oak Brook.
