Lombard, Illinois, District 5 Trustee Laura Fitzpatrick has announced she is resigning effective Sunday.

Her second four-year term was originally set to end in May. As chair of the Community Promotion and Tourism and Economic/Community Development committees, Fitzpatrick said she has made certain to complete all of her duties. She said the committees’ agendas have been completed, including the applications for the 2015 Local Tourism grant program.

“I want to sincerely thank the residents of District 5 and the people of Lombard for the privilege of serving them as Trustee for the last eight years,” Fitzpatrick said.

Keith Giagnorio, president of the Village Board, thanked Fitzgerald for her service. “As Senior Trustee, she has been a committed and staunch advocate for the people of District 5 and the people of Lombard.”

Fitzpatrick said she will continue in public service as district director to state Sen. Chris Nybo (R-Elmhurst).
