College of DuPage reaches record enrollment

Cod

Full-time enrollment is at an all-time high at the College of DuPage.

The college's full-time enrollment equivalent is 15,952 students, which translates into a 2.1 percent increase over last spring.

The net credit headcount for full-and part-time students has also increased 3.6 percent, to 29,108.

“These numbers speak volumes,” College of DuPage President Robert L. Breuder recently said.

Recently, Community College Week named the school the fastest-growing community college in the nation outside of California.

Also, an Illinois Community College Board report indicated out of 39 community college districts in the state, the College of DuPage is the only educational institution to increase full-time equivalent numbers over a five-year period.

“At a time when an educational return on investment is more important than ever, we have maintained a pulse on local, state and national workforce trends to offer students solid programming options that result in high-paying jobs and promotions through increased credentials,” Breuder added. “We have differentiated ourselves through our programs, faculty, facilities and innovation. This historic enrollment substantiates our hard work."

College of DuPage Chairman Erin Birt said the school has set itself apart from others.

"We continue to differentiate ourselves by offering innovative, timely, accessible and affordable programming," Birt said.

More than 28,000 full- and part-time students attend the College of DuPage, making it the second largest undergraduate institution in the state after the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
