Karyn Romano of Glen Ellyn was appointed Dec. 9 to serve on the DuPage County Board.

The board unanimously approved Romano, who was appointed by Chairman Dan Cronin. She will fill the District 4 seat left vacant due to the death of JR McBride. District 4 includes Glen Ellyn, Wheaton, Addison, Bloomingdale, Carol Stream, Lisle, Glendale Heights, Winfield and Lombard.

She will serve the remainder of McBride’s term, which ends Nov. 30, 2016.

“Karyn is very knowledgeable about many of the issues that face our County Board as we begin our new fiscal year," Cronin said. "She’ll hit the ground running, bringing her experience in the areas of public transit, public safety and stormwater. We are lucky to have someone of her caliber working for the citizens of DuPage.”

Her areas of expertise include community and government relations, policy development, project management, advocacy and legislative strategy and public involvement.

In the past, she has held the position of Metropolitan Planning Council transportation director, government affairs liaison for Christopher B.
